THE INVERCAULD HIGHLANDERS OF NORTH AMERICA
"Now, some sixty odd years later, a new impulse of a similar nature springs forth amoungst pioneering clansman in a good continent across an ocean!"
Captain Alwyne Farquharson of Invercauld as part of his approval letter
On November 15, 2015 the Invercauld Highlanders of North America was envisioned by Stephen Howerton, Cole Finlay and Randy Finlay. It was imagined to be a reconstituted group with hereditary lines back to the original Invercauld Highlanders that went dormant during the Second World War. The group would be made entirely of people with connections with Clan Farquharson. This would be the primary difference between the Invercauld Highlanders of North America, IHNA, and the original Invercauld Highlanders, IH. As the IH were made up of workers and tenants of Invercauld Estate and did not necessarily mean they were of the Clan Farquharson.
The IHNA was then imagined to be the best of the best of what Clan Farquharson has to offer including knowledge of the Clan and the Invercauld Highlanders, willingness to help Clan Farquharson societies around the world and the ability to foster ties between the Scottish diaspora and the traditional Clan Farquharson lands.
To help differentiate the members of the Invercauld Highlanders of North America and the average member of Clan Farquharson there have been two uniforms that have been designed.
The Utility uniform will serve as the uniform for new members and for all members when at non Invercauld Highlander events. This uniform is based on a scaled down version of the the Invercauld Highlanders uniform.
The Dress uniform will serve as the uniform for all sanctioned Invercauld Highlanders events. The dress uniform is based upon the uniform of the Invercauld Highlanders during the early 20th century. The final part of the membership process is the completion of the Dress uniform. Before the dress uniform is completed all members are requested to contact Stephen Howerton.
